The Bella Cuisine Kids Cooking Club

Program Description

The Bella Cuisine Kids Cooking Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Chicago, IL.  In a community outreach effort to encourage children to make healthy eating a part of their daily lives and help solve childhood obesity, we have joined the Chefs Move to Schools initiative.  The Bella Cuisine Kids Cooking Club consists of local chefs who volunteer their time to travel throughout the community and offer healthy lifestyle cooking classes in a safe and nurturing environment. Our professional chefs guide your young chefs through each healthy recipe; step-by-step and provide them with "chefs' secrets" to making healthy food irresistible.

The students build and tend school/community gardens. The gardens will enhance the school and community dynamics by reflecting health, unity and beauty. Once it is time to harvest, students create meals using the fresh ingredients and are allowed to take what they wish home to their families; all remaining food is donated within the community.

At the conclusion of each session, our young chefs will collectively create their own menus and have a showcase dinner for parents/caregivers, school staff, local dieticians and community members to ?showoff? what they have learned.
